SMOKING CULTURE NOW

Smoking has been apart of cultures since before many can remember. Every generation has a smoking device that caused an epidemic for them. For the past century, cigarettes, cigars, and in more general terms, tobacco has dominated the smoking industry. From the G.I. Generation to Millennials, smoking was always in the media during the time these people grew up. When watching old movies, teenagers smoking a cigarette is seen as cool and the norm. However, in today's world, smoking has been taken out of movies and shows targeting teens and children. TV shows barely have characters smoking unless it's for a joke or a stereotype. But Gen Z's still smoke though there is an apparent push to end the stigma in society. My capstone is asking the question why. I want to educate my peers with as much information I can gather about smoking around the world. I want to debunk the myths surrounding this epidemic that is sweeping the world, or perhaps just America.
